Disaster Recovery Center Closing June 29th

The Deadline to Apply with FEMA is Today, but FEMA Remains in Oklahoma to Assist Survivors

OKLAHOMA CITY – Today, Friday, June 23, is the final day for residents in Cleveland, McClain and Pottawatomie counties to apply for FEMA assistance. FEMA is still here in Oklahoma to assist survivors even though the application deadline is closing.

FEMA staff remain active in helping Oklahomans recover from disaster. FEMA will continue working with the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security to help survivors and communities in the recovery process.

A few ways FEMA continues to support survivors:

Disaster Recovery Center

FEMA staff remain at the Disaster Recovery Center in Shawnee. The center remains open until June 29 to assist survivors with their recovery.

The operating hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Application Information

If you have not applied for FEMA assistance, you should do so today.

Apply online at disasterassistance.gov.

If it is not possible to apply online, call 800-621-3362. The toll-free telephone lines operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CDT seven days a week. Help with your application or questions is available in most languages. If you use video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service.

You should apply even if you have insurance. You do not need to wait on your insurance settlement to apply. FEMA may provide financial assistance to eligible survivors who have uninsured or underinsured disaster-caused damage or loss.

Disaster Recovery Center in Shawnee to close June 29

OKLAHOMA CITY – This will be the last weekend to visit a Disaster Recovery Center in Oklahoma. The final FEMA and the State of Oklahoma Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) in Pottawatomie County will close permanently June 29. The DRC assists survivors affected by the severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes that occurred April 19-20. The center is located at:

Open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday and Monday.

Survivors can meet face to face with specialists from FEMA, the Small Business Administration (SBA) and state and local agencies to have their questions about disaster assistance answered. They may also upload any documents needed for their applications at the centers.

You do not have to visit a disaster recovery center to apply for assistance. The fastest and easiest way to apply is by visiting www.disasterassistance.gov.

Residents & Businesses have an automatic GRACE PERIOD TO APPLY FOR SBA Low-Interest Recovery Aid in Oklahoma, until July 8, 2023

Disaster Recovery decisions take longer that most people realize. Everyone impacted by the April 19 -20 Tornadoes in OK should KEEP THEIR RECOVERY AID OPTIONS OPEN to ensure access to Federal Aid!

All impacted Residents and Businesses should SUBMIT basic application information By July 8 automatic Grace Period for physical damages, JUST TO KEEP this funding option open. Meeting this deadline by submitting the application will provide resident and business owners will provide an additional six months to determine if they need funds and to request completion of their application for funding aid from SBA.
